5/20/10 CVS Trip

I did 3 transactions at CVS today. And, again, I realized afterwards that I could've condensed them down to only 2. Here's what I did:

Transaction #1:

2 CVS Pocket Tissues = $.99
1 CVS 50 Count Q-tips = $.99

Total Before Coupons: $1.98

Coupons Used:

CRT $1 off 2 CVS Paper Products
CRT $1 off CVS Cosmetics

Total After Coupons: NOTHING (not even tax)

Transaction #2:

1 Herbal Essence Shampoo = $2.99

Total Before Coupons: $2.99

Coupon Used: $1.00 off Herbal Essence Product

Total After Coupons and Tax: $2.17

Received: $2.00 ECB

Transaction #3:

(4) Dawn Ultra Dish Detergent (2 at .84 and 2 at .83) = $3.34
(1) Herbal Essence Shanpoo = $2.99
(2) CoverGirl AmazeMint Lipstick (B1G1 Free - $5.99 each) = $5.99
(2) CVS Pocket Tissues = $.99
(1) CVS Cottonballs = $.99

Total Before Coupons: $14.30

Coupons Used:

(4) $.25 Dawn Dish Detergent = $1.00
(1) $1.00 off Herbal Essence = $1.00
(1) $1.00 off 2 CVS Paper Products = $1.00
(1) $1.00 off CVS Cosmetic Product = $1.00
(1) $2.00 ECB from Transaction #2 = $2.00
(1) $5.99 B1G1 Free Cover Girl Coupon = $5.99 (both CoverGirl products were free)

Total Amount of Coupons: $11.99

Total After Coupons and Tax: $3.24

Received: $2 ECB for Herbal Essence

**Note**
Even though I could have combined transactions 1 &2, I realized now that if I had, I would have had to pay tax on the items I received for free. It appears that CVS will add tax on the entire pre-coupon amount if there is any "balance" after coupons.
